Meet Erin Maguire, Cosmetic Clinician, RN

Meet Erin Maguire - Cosmetic Clinician - RN

We recently caught up with Cosmetic Clinician and Registered Nurse Erin Maguire. Here’s what she had to say.

Erin, How long have you been working at Samara Aesthetics?

I’ve been working at Samara Aesthetics for two years.

How long have you been a nurse?

I’ve been a nurse for 15 years. My background is in emergency nursing.

What attracted you to medical aesthetics?

I have had my own difficult journey with my skin throughout my life. This led me down a path of constant research, learning and trying new things to improve my concerns. I felt like I was always studying and realised I loved everything I was learning!

It made sense to combine the two (my nursing and passion for medical aesthetics research) and pursue this as a career. It’s incredibly rewarding to educate and help others who are also striving for healthier and improved skin.

What are the more common treatments you provide?

Laser and wrinkle reduction treatments are probably the most common and popular treatments.

When do you feel your skin is at its best?

My skin is at its best when several things are under control. For example, it’s best when my stress levels are well managed, I’m well hydrated and consistent with my skincare routine, and I keep my gut health in check by eating a well-balanced diet and drinking less alcohol.

What do you love most about your job?

So many things! The wonderful clients. It’s incredible to help people feel more confident and educate them to work towards healthy skin. No one day is the same! Aesthetics is continuously evolving — advancements in science and ongoing research mean new treatment modalities and products are always appearing —it’s really exciting.

What’s your favourite treatment and why?

My favourite treatment is a particular bio-stimulating treatment (my absolute favourite that I’m unable to talk about due to TGA guidelines) that gives incredible results naturally by improving skin and stimulating collagen.

Speaking of treatments, do you have any favourite volumising treatment?

I wouldn’t say I have one specific favourite volumising treatment. I’m more focused on the impact a volumising treatment can achieve for overall facial balancing.

If you were stuck on a desert island and could only have two skincare products, what would they be and why?

• SPF50+ is non-negotiable in protecting from harmful UVA/B exposure. My favourite is Aspect Dr physical tinted SPF50+.
• Mela cream — as it contains crucial ingredients that help with pigmentation and anti aging.

And speaking of products, do you have any other favourites and why?

I love medik8 hydr8 B5 intense serum and Profhilo Haenkenium moisturiser.
Having sensitive and more dry skin, these products are gentle, hydrating and offer protection from free radicals.

What are your predictions for trending treatment in 2025?

I think Exosomes for skin/scalp and mesotherapy are two treatments that will be trending this year. I am already seeing a shift in mentality in my approach to skin rejuvenation and preservation, and I am here for it!

What do you love most about working at Samara Aesthetics?

I love the supportive culture, the constant learning, and the ability to grow continually. I get to work with the most incredible team and one of the top cosmetic doctors in WA.
I genuinely have the most beautiful clients, and I love that I get to be part of helping them feel more confident in their own skin. What’s not to love!?

If you could give your patients one piece of advice, what would it be?

Wear a SPF50+ with a tint every day of the year — rain or shine- and apply it 2x per day. And don’t forget your neck and the back of your hands!
