Fat-dissolving injections are a nonsurgical way to remove small, stubborn areas of fat. They can contour or define parts of the body where stubborn fat remains—despite diet and exercise.
Fat-dissolving injections are suitable for various areas across the body but are not a ‘weight loss’ option. They are most suited for small areas of exercise-resistant fat, such as:
Your treatment area will be thoroughly cleansed and numbed. Then, the fat-dissolving injections will be applied to the target area. The solution is massaged into the area to ensure it is well distributed. Your treatment should take no longer than 20 minutes.
The injection solutions are made from a synthetic form of a naturally occurring substance. They work by attacking the fat cells and breaking them down. The cells are then absorbed into the body and eliminated through the kidneys.
Visible results are usually seen within 4-6 weeks of the procedure. Depending on the size and depth of fat desired to be dissolved, you may require up to 3 treatments. Once fat cells have been dissolved, they are generally not replaced by the body, so the results are long-lasting. They can last a few years, especially if accompanied by a healthy exercise and nutrition routine.
When administered by trained medical professionals, there are very few complications with fat-dissolving injections. Immediately after the procedure, there may be swelling, bruising or tenderness at the site of the injections, but this is normal and is resolved in the weeks immediately following the procedure. Do not scratch or agitate the injection site. As the dissolved fat cells are also cleared through the kidneys, it is also imperative to maintain adequate water intake following your treatment.
