What is Plasma Pen?
Plasma Pen is a non-invasive skin tightening and rejuvenating treatment suitable for a range of skin treatments. It is a device that stimulates the fibroblastic activity of the skin, thereby assisting with the stimulation of collagen in the treated area.
In theory, this procedure can be used to treat damaged skin on any part of the body, however, it is ideally suited to certain tissue types. Samara medical and cosmetic clinics have a variety of skin-rejuvenating treatments, so check on your consultation which treatment will be most suitable for your unique skin treatment.
The Plasma Pen’s best results are achieved in both the upper and lower eyelids.
Once the area has been thoroughly cleaned and numbed, the plasma pen device is used to treat the lids by administering a ‘plasma arc’ of energy to create skin tightening and rejuvenation.
The skin will tighten immediately after the procedure, but a few days recovery is required to see the full result. Each area requires two treatments, which are administered 2-3 months apart. The results of these two treatments generally last for 18 months.
The device delivers a plasma arc of energy to microscopic areas of damaged skin in the treatment area, which in turn stimulates the action of the fibroblast (the body’s natural repair cells). The fibroblasts stimulate new collagen which leads to the contraction of the treated tissue.
Swelling after the treatment is very common and usually lasts for 2-3 days. Following this the skin will ‘flake’ for a number of days. It is imperative to use SPF 50+ protection post treatment. There is a risk of prolonged inflammation and redness if there is UV exposure during the days following the treatment.
