#4 Sculptura

Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) bio stimulator used in cosmetic treatments to stimulate and encourage the skin’s natural collagen production. The effects of Sculptra are gradual, and the full effects develop over several weeks/months following treatment.  Sculptra provides subtle and natural-looking results by enhancing the volume and reducing laxity of the skin. Changes are progressive and typically last up to 2 years.

Multiple treatments are required, typically 2-4 treatments, 4 weeks apart. There is potential for small lumps or nodules if post-treatment massage is not adequately performed. Unlike dermal filler, Sculptra cannot be dissolved.

BEFORE AND AFTER CARE

48 hours prior to treatment

  • Avoid excessive alcohol
  • Avoid NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, aspirin and fish oil

Day of treatment

  • Present to your appointment with clean skin, free of makeup.

‘5-5-5’ post Sculptra massage

  • After treatment, commence firm massage to the treated area. This can be done using a gentle facial moisturiser. Massage for 5 minutes, 5 times a day for 5 days for 5 minutes as demonstrated by the clinician. This is to minimise the risk of nodules that have the potential to develop.

One week post treatment

  • Return to regular skin care regime

#5 Fat dissolving treatments

Fat dissolving is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that uses a medication, deoxycholic acid, to break down fat cell membranes. Once broken down, the fat is naturally eliminated by the body’s lymphatic system over several weeks.

Deoxycolic acid is a prescription-only medication and is administered by qualified cosmetic clinicians. Potential risks and side effects include swelling, redness, bruising and tenderness to treated area, temporary firmness and uneven fat breakdown. Rare complications include infection, nerve injury and tissue necrosis.

Typically, 2-4 treatments are required, 4-6 weeks apart, and gradual results are visible 4-8 weeks following treatment.

Fat dissolving is not a weight loss solution, nor does it prevent future weight gain.

Skin laxity needs to be a consideration post-treatment. Modalities can be discussed with your treating clinician.
